:: Its was fun!! ::
Here are the photos from Melbourne Royal show as promised....

The first place we went to was "Halls of Manufactuers" to grab the show bags that we wan... it is the last day of the carnival, the popular showbags like "style" magazine and "new woman" magazine were already sold out... su viv and i settled for a "Girlfriend" one instead... the bag was filled with goodies... you pay $10 (it was $15 originally, but since it was the last day, it was on sale) and you get many things in a bag tha can be worth up to $50 smething dollars....

All happy with our purchase, we moved on to other parts of the carnival... visitin sme cute and not so cute animals....

My mum has this thing for pigs, so i specially shot this pic for her.. hahah

Whilst walkin to the epicure centre (where the free fd and wine tasting was held) we stumbled upon a Shrek show..... su couldn resist not takin this pic...

Movin on... we finally found the Epicure centre.. and were invited for a beer seminar... we had time, it was free.... so we decided to go for it... and here's wha we got to eat....

The Muffin was yummy.... oh did i mention tha we get to keep the beer cups... it made our entry fee of $15 all worth it.. haha

Check out our happy faces even before we started the seminar... muahahah

Wha's a carnival without games and rides...

We were all tryin to play the games all for this cute guy... sigh... only one of us manage to win his heart... i mean him....

And it wasn't me!!! hahah viv won this mega size one whilst su and i got the minature version, which i was very happy with... hahah... i remembered last time in Perth royalshow, i won this pony, i had a hard time shippin it bk to Spore.. hahha and in the end i gave it to my cousin...

Someone decided to get funky... haha... its not permanent for your info...

I had a great day.... even greater coz i bumped into inez who was here in Mel for two wks with her mum... its so amazin!!! the last time she was here, i bumped into her outside a chinese restaurant, where we were having dim sum!! i think we are connected in sme way, esp down under (warpped idea... ahha) 3 yrs in spore and we dun get to see each other "accidently"... We had to do it all the way here in Mel.. haha... maybe its the Australia air tha brings us together... hahah

:: I've had enough ::
Enough of fun... well at least for this semester... i am feelin so tired and know that its time to stop... I need to re-prioritise certain things in my life which seems so out of tune right now... i feel tha its apathy... and its not good...

:: Afternoon outing ::
Gie and i decided to travel to Richemond this aft... initially it was for a erm.. small grocery product which we did not buy in the end.. haha but it was good, i have always wanted to visit Richemond... and even though we had only spent 1.5hrs walkin down the streets, i felt tha i was in a environment which is culturally different... all the wordings on the shop is so mostly not in English, but Vietnamese... the languages tha they were speakin were totally foreign to me.... it was a nice trip despite the glommy weather which made both of us sleepy.... *yawns*

:: Special entry for Chad ::
After months of decision making and job interviews, Chad went home last night to start a new phrase of his life... a new phrase where calls to interviews are always exciting yet nerve wrecking, to learn how to build relationships for professional reasons, how to "taiji" and say no when it someone steps over the line, to juggle time between work and personal life (just sme stuff which i went through last time)

opps... bk to the mystery guy

Still remember the first day tha i arrived in Melbourne, Angie asked if Chad could bring me to Ikea to get stuff for my room... it was very nice of him to do so coz he didn' hv to... that all happened 6 mths ago... he is a very patient guy, really.... and a sweet bf to my hsemate....

Just wanna say thank you for all the nice things tha you have done... things like lockin the doors, takin the trash out and makin trips specially to drop me off smewhere... especially washing up the dishes, pots and pans aft our house dinners... oh yes, we wld not have durian to eat if not for this durian "opener"!!

Pray that God will lead you and place you in a area of working life where you can impact the people around you, and show you the purpose tha He has prepared for this new phrase.... gambatte!!!

:: More thanks ::
Special thanks to ppl who hv been prayin for me... you know who you are... for my health and my assignments... thank you... you are making a difference in my life...

:: Lost of power ::
To my great surprise... Singapore Press Holdings and MediaCrop came to a decision of merger... Wha the?!?!? Article in Business Times says it all....i am truly overwhelmed by this change... it will certainly change the media landscape of television and press in Spore... no more negotiation power, no more exciting "if they are showing this blockbuster on Ch 8, I will get another block buster on Ch U" competition amongst the two great television station....

I remember when i entered the media industry in 2001, that was the start of the exciting period for singapore media scene... the emergence of TODAY and MediaWorks certainly marks a shift, bringin the industry to a new level.... competition is good - well for the clients and media specialist as well, where we had the power to say "you know tha your channel/paper is not as widely reached as your competitor, i need a better deal than this"... i guess all the competition was straining them financially...

this change will certainly bring about a massive way tha clients and media agencies are going to evaluate where to put their media dollars... I wan to get bk to the industry now... i wan to be where the happenin is... 6 more mths, just 6 more mths... looks like i really need tha part time job when i go bk this holidays... otherwise i wld be so out of touch...

:: I wanna do this too!!! ::
For those who really know me... this is my first love in the world of rally... presenting to you Tommi Makinen... This article was taken from Business Times online...

Drive like Tommi

IF you are ever in Puuppola, Finland, and you'd like to go on the ride of your life, Tommi Makinen will be more than happy to oblige.

The four-time world rally champion retired from racing last year and opened the eponymous Tommi Makinen Racing Ltd driving school not only to give students wild rides, but also to teach them how to drive a rally car. Sign up for a course and you will be handed a pristine Subaru Impreza Group N rally car including tyres, fuel, service, and priceless tips and advice from world rally legend Tommi himself.

And if you are really keen, the company will even sell you a Group N rally car and customise it to your specifications for any competition you are planning to enter. Rest assured the Tommi Makinen sticker and decal option alone will win you accolades, if not the actual race.
A complete two-day, one-on-one session with the don of sideways driving will set you back around 4,000 euros (S$8,240). For those who think it may be a bit too pricey, consider this: you only live once and a little fun on the 'side' may just be what you've been looking for all this while.

Come to think of it, i sat in a rally car before... it was an old Mazda 323 tha was "transformed" and competed in sme WA race.... and i have also seen Tommi at Rally Australia...
Where is the excitement in my life... hai...

:: Symptoms of stress ::
Based on personal experience and some field work of survey, it was found that if you are constantly doing the following, you are stressed out with your assignments:

1) Blogging constantly
Having more than 2 entries a day. Extreme cases would be blogging about 3 entries within an hour.

2) Cook, wash, reorganise
Perpetually doing something else besides wha you are suppose to be focusing on - Your assignment.

3) Reading everything else besides your notes

4) Feel BORED
You would hv this very "sian" feeling...

hmmm these are just initial tots, will add on more if more symptoms appear... :)

:: The Big 5s of the Advertising industry ::

The following article is taken from MediaPost.com

Just An Online Minute for Monday, September 13, 2004:

It's all over the business pages today. WPP Group, the big, bad British holding company acquired U.S.-based Grey Global for $1.3 billion in a combination cash and stock deal.
So what does it mean for you?

Well, depending on where you sit in the interactive universe, it means facing more agency consolidation. It means facing big, deep-pocketed global players. Of course, consolidation has occurred recently in the online world as well - aQuantive andRazorfish; Digitas and Modem Media; and Advertising.com/America Online, for starters.

With the WPP gobbling Grey though, you have just six major holding companies. And if you subscribe to MediaPost editor Joe Mandese's theory in today's MediaDailyNews, soon there might be just five major advertising companies, as French-ownedHavas could be the next takeover target. Havas was outbid by WPP in the quest for Grey and is generally considered vulnerable on several fronts. Consolidation forces changes for the media networks within the holding companies as well. At Omnicom, youhave OMD and PHD; at WPP, you have Mediaedge:cia and MindShare. Will WPP merge Grey's MediaCom media arm into Mediaedge:cia, or MindShare, for that matter? What would such a configuration look like, and who benefits?

If you're an online player, you should be watching these moves closely because it won't be too much longer before you're dealing with the "offline" media teams or, at least, merged teams. That's if you aren't already.

I know for advertising agencies, there is an unspoken rule not to join smeone within your same group... which means skewing down the opportunities tha are available... not sure if tha applies for Media houses... anyway there's not as many to choose from...

Evolution is at work every second of the day...

:: Mind Media test ::

Decided to blog surf and found this test through willie's blog.... its quite an interesting test abt how your brain works instead of those frivilous character tests....here's my result:

Your Brain Usage Profile:
Auditory : 33%
Visual : 66%
Left : 35%
Right : 64%

Evelyn, you possess an interesting balance of hemispheric and sensory characteristics, with a slight right-brain dominance and a slight preference for visual processing. (Which is quite true based on the recent method of studying for my exams...)

Since neither of these is completely centered, you lack the indecision and second-guessing associated with other patterns. You have a distinct preference for creativity and intuition with seemingly sufficient verbal skills to be able to translate in any meaningful way to yourself and others.

You tend to see things in "wholes" without surrendering the ability to attend to details. You can give them sufficient notice to be able to utitlize and incorporate them as part of an overall pattern.

In the same way, while you are active and process information simultaneously (No wonder i can multitask), you demonstrate a capacity for sequencing as well as reflection which allows for some "inner dialogue."

All in all, you are likely to be quite content with yourself and your style although at times it will not necessarily be appreciated by others. You have sufficient confidence to not second-guess yourself, but rather to use your critical faculties in a way that enhances, rather than limits, your creativity.

You can learn in either mode although far more efficiently within the visual mode. It is likely that in listening to conversations or lecture materials you simultaneously translate into pictures which enhance and elaborate on the meaning.

It is most likely that you will gravitate towards those endeavors which are predominantly visual but include some logic or structuring. You may either work particularly hard at cultivating your auditory skills or risk "missing out" on being able to efficiently process what you learn. Your own intuitive skills will at times interfere with your capacity to listen to others, which is something else you may need to take into account.

Try the test here!!

:: Look outside the bubble ::
If peeps in Mel dun know this yet, i must say the event is very badly planned....

Channel V is running this event called "Band in the bubble"... this is the bubble tha a group of music crazed guys will be spending 21 days... they eat, sleep, shower, make music, play games (product sponsorship sme more) in this little environment where they can be seen by everyone... except for private moments that is (when they are hmmm cleaning up??)

There are cameras and mics fixed in the bubble... every move is recorded and seen by the public... hmmm

However, beside publicity on their own channel, which is broadband and has limited viewership, there is not much noise abt this event... it is centrally located at federation square... but hidden behind the glass pyramid of the information center...

How does Channel V get higher viewership than MTV in Aust.. its quite amazing... can they please get better marketing/event planning ppl.... tsk tsk

You're a "White Angel". You're a natural

always work out the right way but atleast you
tried. You're pretty near to your family and
you love being around them. You're not afraid
of what people think if you except you relative
because you have to deal with them everyday.
Everyone else, you don't. You are only afraid
that you won't live up to what they want you to

:: Can you believe this??? ::

Marketing to women a no-brainer
Simon Canning
02sep04 The Australian

ONCE every few months, advertising executive Amanda Stevens heads into a laboratory to slice and dice brains. As she peers through microscopes, analysing tissue samples, she hopes to find an answer to a billion-dollar question: why so much advertising fails to communicate with women.

It is a question that those in the ad industry are desperate to find an answer for. Studies from around the globe suggest women are responsible for 85 per cent of all purchasing decisions – yet by Stevens's reckoning, 80 per cent of all ads either offend women, ignore them or hark back to stereotypes developed 50 years ago. With advertisers spending $8 billion a year to reach consumers, the suggestion that 80 per cent of that could be missing the mark is of great concern to advertising practitioners.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Speaking to Media, Berman said one of the biggest mistakes advertisers made was that they did not accept women had a sense of humour when it came to advertising and did not really understand what women wanted in marketing. She also said that advertisers did not understand how to use the powerful tool of emotion.

"So much of what we do in advertising to men – it's funny, it's humorous, it's sight gags, slapstick – we are so comfortable with that and we know it works," Berman says. "But we are not comfortable with the things that we don't quite get. Humour is an area where we have failed with women, that they are not going to find [something] funny, or that they are not going to be able to laugh at themselves and I think that's very untrue. I think they are very capable of laughing at themselves."

She says many advertising agencies and marketers have missed this global economic shift in power because too many men in the industry are too comfortable with marketing to men.
"They are much more comfortable with advertising to a male target, so then we see that whole thing going in a direction where they do not want to acknowledge [women]."

I dun know if its becoz we are too complicated... or we are just cleverer than the other gender, evaluating everything in depth... including advertising...

:: My first time ::
At skiing!! it was fun even though i went down only one slope all the 2 days that i was actually skiing.. hahah here's a quick report:

Day 1
Reached Fallscreek at 8am in the morning, when the rest of the whole was still sleeping... hang ard for sme admin stuff before heading to collect our skis... hang ard even longer to collect our ski lift tickets...

Had fallen even before i reached the location of the ski sch for beginners.. i cldn't stop as i got off the ski lift...*ho hor lin ho hor lin ah* Was very tired aft 1.5hr of lesson (which i didn;t learn much except for how to stop and turn left and right, coz our grp was too big) so in the end viv, lou and i decided to leave insearch of our own fun... poor su was still balancing on her snowboard beginners class...

First trip down Wombat's Ramble took me 4 falls to complete the slope... arrgghhh... decided to call it the day and headed for lunch at La Porchetta... yums... all starving coz we didn;t eat breakfast before skiing... All agreed tha's enough skiing for one day ( it was abt 3 only) and headed bk to our rms to zzzzzZZZZZzzzzz and nua...

Day 2
We headed out the slopes at mid day and i had 4 great gos again at WR and it was great fun!!! gosh... we realise the pt is not try to stop but try to slow down instead.... i can ski side to side as well to conquer the steep slopes... *whhhheeeeeeee* the last trip down was the best coz the slopes were closing and we were the last few to come down... had all the space!!!!

A quick pic of us up on the top of the mountain...

Will upload the others tmrw... *yawn*

Day 3
Spent the whole day at La Porchetta coz we had to check out early morning and the bus comes only at 4pm... oh well at least Viv now knows how to play bridge!! yeah!!

Overall it was a good experience... i wld love to go bk skiing again.. hmmm maybe during my graduation?? hehe

Note: When do you know you have too much a drink? When you think that number 79 is NOT between the range of 0 to 89...

Dun know why... been very snappy and impatient these days... hmmm... mood swings again?? I apologise if i stepped on anyone's toes...

I thank God for the ppl in my life... insecurity is one of Satan's tricks and i refuse to fall into it!!!

:: A love-hate relationship ::
After starting on my design unit, i hv developed a love-hate relationship with Mac... nope, not MacDonalds, but Apple computers...
1) why can't i work off my thumb drive... can't it differentiate between the real file and the shortcut???
2) Everyone in my class, though design students, HATEs Macs.... strangely enough you wld think that they are the ones who simply adores Mac... but nooooo
3) why in the world was FCP made for Apple only?? hmmm Adobe premier works the same.. oh well granted that rendering is way much faster.... other than tha, we dun see a point in FCP...
4) why can't they just close the previous action instead of shutting down the whole program... this happen to me and partner when we were trying to load the clips which we have painfully selected in 2 hrs... the Mac just hung... simply refused to move... *arrgghhh*

When i was working previously...I hv this thing for my clients and their products... i learn to love it despite how much i wld hate it previously... otherwise, how can i even sell their products for them, rite?? till the point that i wld not longer see their defective side negatively... but smething for them to improve on instead...

Despite all my complains.... free advertising for them... Launch of new iMac... anyone for a 80GB computer???

As they say, LOVE is blind... I finally understood wha it means.... Come to think of it, we also meet problems with PC... so is it a PC propaganda tha is working or is Mac really tha bad... you be the judge of it....

Or am i just a confused gal... hmmmm
