Thursday, November 16, 2006 Product placement is on the increase with various research showing that subliminal messages do build recall and recognition in consumer's mind. However the key word here is SUBTLE. Am actually quite surprised that the European markets have not legalised it as yet. Working on a program sponsorship with a client currently, gosh their wishlist of product placement/brand association never seems to end. Now it over to the production team to weave it in as subtly as possible.Watched the latest Bond movie last night. Some very prominent product placements include: 1) Sony Ericsson (sure-cannot-miss kind) 2) Ford cars 3) Sony (Cybershot, Vaio) A nice action packed movie to catch, but some of the scenes/stunts can be quite erm.. riddculous?
Wednesday, November 15, 2006 The next generation of logo recognition - Sony Ericsson. Just as Nike has revolutionalised their "tick", Sony Ericsson's logo will be the new case studies soon in marketing books. Personally, i like the way they use the logo to represent a double meaning (1) "love" without actually spelling it out (2) their brand name. The commercial is nicely done too, appealing to a broad specturm of target group. Branding, Branding, Branding... If given an opportunity, i wanna do brand campaigns! *yawn* kinda tired of tactical campaigns with clients seeing branding as only "btw" execution a.k.a sticking my logo is branding... which of course is the thinking of such inmature local markets. Off to a preview of Casion Royale tomorrow. And yes, by the Grace of God, i survived last week. Its the planning season... Sometimes i really wonder if being efficient is a good thing. We may end up looking more free though we do have a heavy load. Its either: 1) we finish it up real quick, without giving much thought to a holistic campaign (which i think i am slipping into that point again, just C-H-U-R-N-I-N-G things out, dun like that, coz i feel its compromising with the quality of work that i can deliver) 2) we really dun care anymore, except to meet the immediate deadlines. Shut down comp and get out of there Am ranting becoz i dun wan to be loaded with new accts just becoz. My team does have a lot on our hands. And most importantly, its not a new win. I can somewhat understand that if it is a new win, a team would need to be allocated to it. But no, there is a current team working on it, so stick with it. We all have to handle products which we may not have affinity with ie baby milk products... I never tot that i wld have an affinity with it when i first took it on. But as things get along, i just kinda fall in love with it. Oh yes, i am now the offical "medical/health" gal. From pharm products, pharm companies to promoting healthy living (gosh, i do need to adopt some of that advise in their ads haha) A statement sums it all up: We get along socially, but professionally we just may not meet eye to eye.
Thursday, November 09, 2006 challenge of the day (after today)how to fit 5 meetings within a 9 working hour day... beats me.. some things that may help: - Talk at bullet train speed - No leisure talk, get straight to the pt - Don't tell me things that i already know - Be prepared, like really prepared - Pray for God to 'extend' that 9 hr day i shall share if the above pt works... tha is provided that i survive tmrw. *HELP!*
